The Dutch twin towers, Meijer-Maarsen, competed this week in the Madrid Challenger Tournament for the professional World Padel Tour. The team started from the pre-qualifications round. For their first match they defeated Ignacio Regalia Beneitez (ARG, rank 201 wpt) and Victor Saenz de Navarrete for 6-4 6-3 (ESP, rank 185 wpt). This is a significant milestone for the Dutch duo towards their goal raching rank 200 wpt.
For their second match they faced David Sanchez Serrano (ESP, rank 90 wpt) and Denis Perino (ARG, rank 100 wpt). The Dutch left the tournament satisfied with a result 3-6 3-6.
Reaching Quarter-Finals in Gent
Earlier during the weekend Meijer-Maarsen competed in the ASANTI&TIBEFLEX OPEN 2018- FIP500 in the city of Gent, Belgium, for the International Padel Federation circuit. They won two consecutive matches. In the quarterfinals they faced Fermin Ferreyra and Roberto Rodriguez with an end result of 6-3 6-7 3-6. During the second set, Meijer-Maarsen were two points away from winning the match as Meijer was serving on the tie break on a 5-5. Ferreyra-Rodriguez got the following two points to move to the third set and later win the match.
