From 10 to 18th October LTVL Lelystad organized the 1st Debby’s Hair Collection Open Padel Championship. 74 participants from all over Holland competed in 3 categories for 8 different competitions, with a total of 50 matches.
Despite the rainy weather visitors gathered around the court to support their local heroes. At the end, Yvonne Peeters, local fro Lelystad, reached the final with her partner Wendy van Eijk-Ruis for the ladies cat. 1. The were defeated by Cindy Huiberts and Marcella Koek. For the doubles-mix cat 1 Dirk Jan Jannink partnered Wendy van Eijk-Ruis to reach the final and loose against the experienced Piet Koetsier and Marcella Koek. In the gentlement cat 1. final Joost Snellink and Coen Beltman would compete against Peter Bruijsten and Piet Koetsier. Beltman reported injury and therefore the trophy went to Bruijsten-Koetsier. Nevertheless, with the addition of Chris Nieberg, a demonstration match was played.
Due to the success of this event, LTV Leslystad is already making plans to organize two tournaments; one of them in partnership with the Nederlandse Padelbond and the International Padel Federation (FIP).
