The Dutch Padelbond (NPB) presents its first national team. It will represent the Netherlands for the first time in an international padel tournament. The team consists of young and enthusiastic male padel players that will also act as ambassadors of the sport. President and coach of the NPB, Norberto Nesi, selected the following padel players:
Adam Belkhadir
Club: TEZ Enschede
Two years ago Adam Belkhadir started playing padel. He had little experience with any other racket sports. Adam rapidly developed into talented padel player with strong defensive skills. In 2011 he won the TEZ Open Padel Tournament with Vincent Eleveld, hosted by his home padel club in Enschede.
Vincent Eleveld
Club: TEZ Enschede
Vincent Eleveld is a skilled tennis player and coach. His greatest strength is his offensive game and his overall finesse. In 2010 and 2011 he won the Open TEZ Padeltoernooi in Enschede.
Bram Meijer
Club: TEZ Enschede
He is a junior tennis player that recently became in contact with Padel. He became a fanatic padel player and he has already proved all-round padel skills. He is a great promise for the future of padel in Holland.
Coen Beltman
Club: Tennis School Twente
In 2010 Coen Beltman tried padel for the first time. He is a tennis player and coach. Remarkably of Coen was that he understood quickly what padel is about. He understood that while the techniques are similar to that of tennis the goals are different. He has a good strategic mind for the sport.
Bart Mees
Club: TPC Maaspoort
Bart is one more tennis player and tennis coach in the Dutch Padel Team. He is one of the top padel players of the Den Bosch based tennis and padel club TPC Maaspoort. Bart is very fast and fit; a player that dares to do unconventional.
Erwin Hilgerdenaar
Club: TPC Maaspoort
Erwin Hilgerdenaar began playing tennis when he was a child and today he is a tennis instructor and padel coach in Den Bosch. He has transitioned into padel as an offensive player with a very good volley.
One of the goals of the NPB is to further promote the sport and support the development of dutch talented padel players. Putting together a national team and participating in international tournaments help achieve these goals. The Dutch National Padel Team will compete for the first time from 27th to 29th of January, in Estepona, Spain against more experienced teams, including Germany, Portugal, England, Sweden and the squads representing the of Melilla and Estepona.
